A church has existed on this land since as early as the 16th century and there is a grave marker dating back to 1700. The more recent incarnations started in 1731 when another church was built on the land (its remains are still visible today), the datestone of this church remains preserved in the entrance of the present church.

During February 1863, the building of todays present church began on adjacent land. Whilst under construction the tower fell a year later which somewhat delayed the building work and a new collection was made to make the new building safer.

Once the building was completed, the last services were held in the Old Church on Sunday 2 June 1867 and then the first service in the new Church were held 7 days later.

During 1954, almost a hundred years later, the church hall was built, and 12 years later its roof was replaced. During 1999 the hall was replaced, and new building was opened the following year.

Back in 1884, a stained-glass Rose Window was fitted is the church, it was dedicated to those who fell and served in the 1939-45 war. There is 1 Commonwealth burial of the 1939-1945 war here.
