Private Charles Barton joined the Dorsetshire Regiment, 1st Battalion after the Great War when it returned to Ireland and was based in Londonderry. He was the son of a Mrs. Spicer of Basingstoke, England.

Charles unfortunately died from acute appendicitis (inflammation of the appendix) and pneumonia (lung infection) in the City and County Infirmary, Londonderry.

The 1st Dorsetshire Regiment had a remarkably busy and active war. They left France during April 1919, and Charles more than likely joined them at this stage. On arrival in the UK, they went to Ebrington Barracks in Londonderry.

Private Charles Barton was not eligible for any medals as he never left the UK or entered a theatre of war.
