Coleraine (St. John’s) Roman Catholic Churchyard

Coleraine, St John's
Coleraine’s (St. John’s) Roman Catholic Churchyard is located beside the Church of the same name and is located on Somerset Drive in the town.
The parish has existed since 1248 when the original church was built on the site where the Church of Ireland church is now.
The parish re-established in 1760 when a small chapel was built on the current site of Chapelfield House (where the priest now lives), being replaced 46 years later by a larger building. It was soon determined that this was still too small, and the current church went into planning and was from 1834 soon built with additions being made in 1855 and 1884. The last renovations where in the 1990’s. There are 2 Commonwealth burials of the 1914-1918 war here.
