Desertlyn (St. John) Church of Ireland Church is located at the centre of the village Moneymore. It opened its doors for the first time during 1832, having taken 3 years to build at the cost of £6000. The building was improved in 1868 and all went well up until 1889 when it had a fire which destroyed the roof and most of the interiors of the building.

The church reopened during 1891 with an addition of a bell. The only other main change up until today is the reintroduction of an original stain glass window some 50 years later. There is one burial of the Great War here.
