St. Columba’s church was originally built during 1760. It is one the first buildings erected in the parish and predates any of the building of Draperstown. A tower and the spire were added 32 years later. The tower which still exists today is attached to the present church which was rebuilt during 1888 and was recently refurbished.

Interestingly an uncle of Field Marshall Bernard Montgomery,[1] who was the Reverend Samuel Montgomery is buried here with his servant John Wilson. He never married and lived in the area with two of his sisters until his death. There is one burial of the Second World War here.
