Drumachose, Christ Church, Church of Ireland Churchyard
Drumachose, Christ Church, Church of Ireland Churchyard is located beside the church with the same name. It is located at 27 Church Street, Limavady, near the centre of the town itself.
It is unknown when the church here was first built. There is a record though of one in a ruined state in 1622, damaged in 1641, in existence in 1736, a tower added in 1749, rebuilt during 1750 and renovated during 1881. Burials here date back to the 1700’s.
A cannon stands on the ground at the location of a mass burials. It is said to be from the “Siege of Derry” in 1689.
To the back of the churchyard is also a Royal Airforce Memorial, created from an Avro Shackleton Mark 3 Aircraft which was recovered from RAF Ballykelly. There are 5 Commonwealth burials of the 1914-1918 war here and 25 Commonwealth burials of the 1939-1945 war, 2 of which are unidentified.
