Gunner Charles Hill was a married man at the time of his death. His widow was Mrs. L.L. Hill from 12 Lorne Road, Brixton.

Charles suffered from pulmonary tuberculosis[1] for 34 days before passing away from exhaustion in the Military Hospital, Waterside, Londonderry.

The date of his death is wrong and is reported as either the 6th or the 9th of October.

Charles more than likely belonged to the 15th Company, Royal Garrison Artillery which was based in Londonderry and was responsible for the Northern Irish coastal defences. He was not eligible for any medals as he did not serve abroad.
