There was a Church here called Saint Canice since 1783 but fell into disrepair after the new chapel of St Mary’s was built close by between 1836 and 1838. Some Catholic families continued to use the old graveyard well into the twentieth century. The wall surrounding the graveyard was erected in 1883. There are 2 Commonwealth burial of the 1914-1918 war and 1 of the 1939-1945 war here.
