Petty Officer Steward Charles Rose was the son of Charles and Rose Emma Rose; husband of Lorna Irene Rose, of Southsea, Hampshire. He served onboard H.M.S. Banff.[1]

Charles is listed as having died from a self-inflicted knife wound to the throat while onboard ship and in port in Londonderry. There were no issues with his state of mind at the time.

[1] H.M.S. Banff was originally the Coastguard Cutter USS Saranac which was launched on the 12th of April 1930 in California. It was transferred to the Royal Navy during 1941.
