Rifleman Samuel Starrett was the son of Robert George and Annie Starrett, of Cullion, Co. Tyrone. He served in the 8th Battalion Royal Ulster Rifles, which was only raised in 1940. Until Samuels’s death it had served only in the UK, he died because of a tragic accident in Great Britain.

Samuel’s father, Robert was also serving in the Royal Ulster Rifles after re-joining up at the beginning of the war. He had served in the Great war in Gallipoli and was wounded in that campaign. He served with the Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers, Royal Engineers, Royal Irish Regiment, Durham Light Infantry and Royal Munster Fusiliers under service numbers 10893, 369378, 572, 62580 and 1804.

Unfortunately, no further information at present.
