Seaman John Cahill served in the Royal Navy Patrol Service on HM Motor Minesweeper 88.
John’s ship had only gone into service on the 16th of March 1942. Previous service is unknown.
He was reported missing on the 11th of April 1942. His badly decomposed body was not found until the 1st of May of the same year floating in the River Foyle.
He had suffered severe head injuries, including a fractured skull, the cause of which are unknown.
Unfortunately, no further information can be presently found.
