St. Swithin’s Church in Magherafelt went into construction during July 1856 on the site of a much older building. It was completed and consecrated on the 7th of April 1958. It is believed that it was named after St Swithin’s Lane in London. The then Salters’ Hall was based there, and the Salters’ Company had provided the land and £4000 to help build this place of worship. There is 1 Commonwealth burial of the 1914-1918 war and 1 of the 1939-1945 war here
