Private Peers was from Knutsford Cheshire, England and served with the Home Hospital Reserve. Unfortunately, he died of illness in the city and was buried with full military honours. He

According to some records George Peers was a Lance Corporal in the army rather than a private as officially listed.

He had been admitted to the hospital in Ebrington Barracks three days prior to his death with inflammation to his intestines before he suffered a fatal heart attack.

His body was taken to the cemetery on a gun carriage from Ebrington Barracks accompanied by an attachment from the 3rd Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers. Three volleys of shots were fired as he was laid to rest.

Private Peers did not receive any medals as he did not serve abroad.
