Private William Walker was an unmarried man when he joined the Royal Irish Rifles on the 31st August 1914. He remained with them until October when he transferred to the 8th Service Battalion of the Royal Irish Fusiliers due to illness.

William passed away after taking an epileptic fit just over 4 months later. His next of kin was his brother Robert.

The 8th Battalion, Royal Irish Fusiliers had yet to be posted abroad. Private William Walker was not eligible for any medals.

William’s head stone incorrectly says he was in the Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers.

Date of Death: 5/1/1915 (Aged 29)
