Daughter of Edward and Catherine Williamson, of Cleator Moor, Cumberland.

This is the only Second World War female death in the cemetery. She passed away in the City/County Hospital a few hours after an accident. From reports it seems she died from severe head injuries, caused by being struck by a train while crossing the railway line in the dark. She had been travelling from the naval base to the city.

An inquest into her death was held in private due to a request from naval authorities. No reason was given. She had only arrived in the city on the 23rd of December 1943.

H.M.S. Ferret[1] was the land base in Lisahally, Londonderry and was established in 1940 to allow quick access to the North Atlantic for ships to give convoy support.

The base also had large maintenance areas for repairs of damaged vessels and upgrades.
