Private John Cunningham was the husband of Sarah Cunningham, of 2, Hemptons Close, Londonderry. John was from Donaheady, Co Tyrone.
John served in the 12th Battalion of the Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers. This was a reserve and training battalion and was formed in April 1915 in Enniskillen, moved to Ballyshannon and then Newtownards during June 1915 before returning to Enniskillen. 1916 found them at Finner camp in Ballyshannon until they were absorbed by the 3rd battalion during April 1918. This is where John died from exhaustion after suffering an epileptic episode. It is presently unknown if he served in any other battalions.
Private Cunningham was laid to rest on the 25th of May 1917 with full military honours.
