Horton, H G (Herbert George)
While in the presence of Corporal Linstrom in the Ebrington Barrack’s Military Hospital, Londonderry, Private Herbert George passed away after suffering from an epileptic fit that lasted more than thirty minutes (epilepticus). He had suffered from idiopathic epilepsy. It is unknown if he had a history of illness, or of its causes.
Herbert Horton had been in Londonderry with the 4th King’s Shropshire Light Infantry Battalion.[1] It had been mobilized on the 1st of September 1939 and was sent to Northern Ireland to protect it against the threat of invasion by the Germans. They would remain there until they took part in Operation Neptune (D-Day) during June 1944.
