Aircraftman 2nd Class Norman Starritt was the son of Joseph and Sara Starritt, of Stanagard, Desertmartin. His father Joseph was the trainer of Lecumpher Church Choir, which was award winning and highly praised. Norman attended Rainey’s Foundation School.

Norman died from the effects of Pulmonary tuberculosis.[1]  in a hospital in Whiteabbey (which is near Newtownabbey, Northern Ireland.) His brother-in-law, Hubert Lamont, was by his side at the end.

[1] Pulmonary tuberculosis is known as TB and leads to wasting away of the body.
